I make two types of flamenco guitar the traditional blanca guitar made of spruce and cypress and the modern 'Negra' which was developed by the Hermanos Conde for Paco de Lucía. Both are constructed lightly and produce a nervous punchy sound that flamenco guitarists seek, but the qualities of the different woods then impart an added colour to the overall timbre of the instrument. The negras are considered better for solo guitar playing since the sound is a little more complex than the blanca, but ultimately both types are concert quality instruments each with big sounds.
